Let's Celebrate Mother's Day with Capital Delights

I am back with another post in appreciation of female entrepreneurs. Capital Delights has become a household favourite in Islamabad over the past few years.

I used to order from Capital Delights when I had long working days at school back in Islamabad and I loved their pizzas and brownies (yumm). Following I reached out to them and had the pleasure of conducting a short interview with the team of Capital Delights along with a small surprise for Mother's Day (at the end of the post)!

Starting with the obvious… Tell us a little about Capital Delights… How and when did your journey begin? Was it planned or absolutely random?

"Capital Delights is home based and is run by a family. The head chef is Mrs. Rabia and the business is run by her children Zoha Fatima, Abdul Samad and Fahad!

"We started in June 2012 without any plans or anything in mind. One lazy afternoon some brownies were baked in the house and we randomly took their pictures (oh they looked so heavenly!) and put them on Facebook. With time the orders grew.. there were even some fake orders in the beginning and instead of making money there was a loss.. but the motivation was never low. Maybe it because the love for food was so strong ..but most importantly because the confidence, the self motivation and the sense of achievement that Capital Delights brought was so strong that the thought of giving up never came! All the operations were and are still carried from our house.

Initially, the whole family used to cook and bake and even deliver themselves. But as orders grew and the demand increased, a separate kitchen had to be made. Professional ovens and stoves had to be bought. Since the whole concept of Capital Delights is to provide 'Homemade' food, no trained cooks were hired. The cooks were trained by Mrs.Rabia and her daughter Zoha. "

What would you say sets you apart from your competitors in the market?

"Our concept of 'home-made' food being provided in 45-50 mins is our USP. We don't compromise on food quality and make sure that all the food is made under strict observation. We continuously integrate innovation into our products to ensure that customers always have a great experience! We have recently launched our website as well where the customers can now place their orders online, we try to give both: convenience and taste!"

What’s been the most difficult part of your journey?

"Well, there have been a lot of difficult parts in our journey. Initially, we didn't get support from the people close to us, be it family friends or even close family. There were a lot of 'haw hayes'. We managed to ignore them, but it wasn't easy. "

And what’s been the most rewarding?

"There are many actually, whenever we get a happy customer we feel rewarded. Secondly, the people who used to point fingers at us in the beginning now proudly tell everyone about us. We feel that this is a great reward for us as we didn't let any negativity put us down.

Winning the best StartUp of the year 2016 by the Startup Magazine was a huge turning point for us as we got recognized nationally and this boosted our confidence. We also got selected in the top 10 restaurants by FoodPanda and Eatoye in 2016.

However, everyday is rewarding as it's a reminder for us that hard work always pays off!"

What can Capital Delights’ customers expect in 2017?

"We are planning to expand our services and menu as well as some other exciting things coming up which will make things convenient for you, so stay tuned and make sure you have liked all our pages and follow our website for constant updates."

What does Mother’s Day mean to you? Any special message for your mother?

"Mother's day is the day where we get the chance to express what our moms mean to us. Some argue that this should be done every day but we believe that dedicating a day especially to mothers is great and the spirit of motherhood is heightened.

For us, mother's day is extra special as Capital Delights was started because of our mother! It is her hard work, her passion and her love for food which led us to this business. So today, we would like to tell her that we love her and owe her a lifetime for letting us have this platform. Today, we would like to dedicate all the success that Capital Delights has gotten to her, because at the end of the day it's all hers!

So guys, love your parents and especially your mom as the sacrifices she makes, no one else can even imagine making them. "Verily, Jannah lies under her feet". So love her and cherish her for life is too short!"
